Rekindle: A Shabbat Studio is a forum of learning, sharing, community building and radical amazement. The Studio included a range of formal and informal activities (including peer-led happenings and sessions, open space discussions and workshops) all designed to facilitate connections between Shabbat innovators – the movers and shakers of creative Shabbat programming around the world – and catalyze a community of practice.

Founder; Market Development Director
New York, NY
Interested in the interfacing of ritual, experience, and technology, Robert J. Saferstein has used his background in the arts and media to broaden the definition of what 'Jewish' can look like by building community and realizing new points of engagement across multiple platforms. Market Development Director of Sh'ma Journal, and named to The Jewish Week's "36 Under 36," Saferstein is the recipient of two Natan Grants for ROI Entrepreneurs for his series of sophisticated Shabbat and holiday dinners for gay Jewish professionals, Friday Night Lights (FNLights.com). Through FNL's unique approach of meeting gay Jews wherever they are in identity and practice, and by curating quality events that emphasize culture, the "experiential," and fine fare, Friday Night Lights offers new access points into the Jewish community and fosters long-term involvement in both Jewish life and LGBTQ philanthropy. His latest initiative is Eighteen:22, a Schusterman Connection Point that launched in August 2015 in Salzburg, Austria, that brought together over 70 Jewish LGBTQ and ally influencers from around the globe in order to cultivate an international network of visionaries working to advance ideas and initiatives that make the world a more inclusive and equal place (eighteen22.com).
